Photonics in military applications -the use of AR-VR
It is no surprise that the Military is using AR-VR for different purposes. According to the article "Virtual Reality in Military by Nadia Kovach ", it is used in Training since "about 1 in 20 soldiers deaths happen during training" The training types that she identifies are "Immersive Training and situational awareness". These virtual boot camps include "head-mounted display with motion tracker, special load-bearing vest, body motion tracker, and training weapons" Here is where photonics is playing an important role.
Other areas of use are:
Medical training since military medical teams need to work quickly and professionally in a dangerous circumstance.
Military training, VR-Simulators help pilots train for air battles and navy simulators in ship handling.
Therapy, VR is also used in treating PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
